Best Steam Mops For Hardwood

I was hesitant to buy this because of the mixed reviews, but Consumer Reports has it rated #1 so I took the chance and I'm glad I did. I bought it to replace a Shark Steam Pocket mop that I thought was working well. But the handle snapped off and couldn't be fixed so I looked for something else.This mop is much heavier and sturdier than the Shark. I don't anticipate this handle breaking. It puts out more steam and at a steadier rate. The Shark puts out steam based on movement, but this one just pumps it out all the time.The head swivels nicely without being too loose. It holds an enormous amount of water and has a very long cord, so no more stopping to refill or find another outlet.I did buy the "coral" mop heads becasue I have ceramic tile and they did a fantastic job in the grout lines. The Shark glided over but this one got them clean. I also have some hardwood and it cleaned them evenly without leaving too much water behind, even on the first use.An added bonus is that you can remove the steamer from the mop casing and use it handheld. It puts out a lot of steam and I can think of many uses (cleaning the shower door tracks, grill, etc.)There are a couple of silly design flaws. The opening to the water tank is ridiculously small and I had to dig out my smallest kitchen funnel to get water in it without making a mess. And there is only one hook to hold the cord, so you can't wrap it up neatly. They won't affect performance but will be permanent annoyances. However, neither is enough to make me wish I hadn't bought it.All in all, it's a very sturdy mop that does a great cleaning job.

I got my H20 mop in December of 2009 and I love it! (I'm a neat freak) We eat by black light for Halloween and I was horrified to see all the spots on my floor and disgusted! My husband actually bought me the h20 mop, and after using it, I did my own black light test and saw a MAJOR DIFFERENCE in the cleanliness of the floor. When I first used the handheld steamer I thought I burnt a hole in my wall! But no, it was dirt! The dirt was melting right off! Like I said, I'm a neat freak and was shocked to see all the dirt on my walls. I totally recommend the H20 Mop! So easy to use, if my 70 year old grandma can use it so can you!

I have had the Thane H20 Mop Ultra for several months and have used it at least once a week, sometimes more, since we purchased it. I have not had the problems that some of the other reviewers have had. It did puddle a little the first time I used it, but the instructions say to expect that. It has not done that again. It cleans the floor very well and if there is something really stuck on, I go over it a few times and it comes up. Here are the pros, cons, and suggestions for use:Pros:No chemicalsWith comfort taken into consideration, better than hands and knees cleaning (which was previously my preferred method because it cleans better than any mop)Doesn't take very long to clean my kitchen floorCons:The microfiber cloths come off if they get too wetYou have to move rather quickly to prevent the heads from getting too wetYou have to have the mop head at an angle or else it comes off the floor when you're pulling it back toward yourselfSuggestions to make it work well:Wash your mop heads in free and clear detergent (no color, perfume, etc.), no fabric softener, and line dry.DON'T ADD ANYTHING TO THE WATER TANK BUT WATER (like the instructions say!).If possible, wash the heads in a hot wash as soon as you're done so the dirt doesn't dry on there.Wash your floors rather frequently--if the floors get really dirty, it's harder on the mop (though it will still do a great job, in my opinion).If you treat your mop well and follow the directions, it should work fine. It's not fair to treat it however you want and then write a bad review when it doesn't perform perfectly! :).
